Garrett Residence

Jessamine County, KY 1996
The entire main level of this house was placed one foot above the adjacent lake so major views would always be taken at the level of the water beyond. This house is intended to move and slide as it works its way down the slope. The chimney joins with the stairs to anchor the major turn in the plan, while the water views to the south are opened onto the porches.

The house is formal and informal; open and contained; low-slung and yet it stands tall. But so far, it tells me that every bit of all this is really who it is.
